The Kormacit area is the perfect spot of ecotourism in Northern Cyprus. Situated between the beautiful Mediterranean See and the Besparmak mountains, it offers a wide range of ecotourism activities including turtle watching, botanical excursions combined with walking or biking tours, where specific local flora can be observed like orchids and tulips. The 700-year-old Kalkanli olives trees and the orange gardens are also popular spots for ecotourism fans, where they can combine agrotourism with delicious tastings of local products. The mini-farm offers a wide range of local domestic animals including donkeys, horses, goats, ducks, etc

Festivals and events 2016/2017

Turtle watching
The Akdeniz Beach near Kormacit is one of the few spots in Northern Cyprus, where turtles (including Caretta-Caretta) lay their eggs between July and August. It is a fascinating show for nature and ecotourism lovers!

TULIP FESTIVAL 2017
Annual Tulip Festival in Tepebasi village. The Tulipa cypria is an endemic species that can only be found in the region around Kormacit and at some places in Karpaz and Akamas.

ST. GEORGE FESTIVAL
St. George is the patron of Kormacit village, so his name day is celebrated 2 days on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday evening there is a concert at the village square. Sunday is celebrated with a holy mass and folk dances.

EASTER 2017
Easter celebrations are very important for the village and start with a mass at Palm Sunday, a big bonfire on Saturday evening and a mass at Saturday Midnight. On Easter weekend Kormacit expects more than 2000 people, mostly from South Cyprus, to celebrate in the St. George Cathedral. On Easter Sundays or Mondays the Maronite archbishop from Nicosia is visiting the village.
