Kormacit (-Aramaic, Kormakitis – Greek, Korucam – Turkish) is a village located in the northern part of the island of Cyprus close to Cape Kormakitis on the west coast. This is one of the last 4 villages in Cyprus where Maronites are living. The Maronites are Catholics who came originally with the crusaders in the middle ages and since this times stayed on the island. The eco village of Kormacit/Korucum/Kormakitis is also a part of the “natura 2000” area upgrade program for the Akdeniz/Ayia Irini district at the west coast of Northern Cyprus.
